Spin Qubits

Built on standard transistor and integrated circuit technology, spin qubits are created by using multiple side-by-side gates to apply targeted voltages that isolate tiny puddles of electrons. By taking this control to its extreme limit, a quantum dot isolates a single electron beneath an electrode. The intrinsic spin of this single isolated electron is then harnessed to serve as the quantum bit.
